A. Successful completion should qualify students for entry-level employment in their area of study. Many certificate programs lead to state or national certification.
A. Students who are interested and qualified should pursue a degree program. For students who have decided on a different route, or who want to work in a professional field before committing to a degree program, Continuing Education classes offer a practical, affordable and accessible choice to help them prepare for success.
A. No. Continuing Education classes do not require university admission.
A. No. We do not require transcripts or test scores. Some programs have a brief application process & prerequisite requirements.
A. Several organizations offer special loan packages to help students complete a professional certificate. Continuing Education courses do not lead to a college degree, which means they are not eligible for traditional forms of financial aid like the HOPE Scholarship, HOPE Grant or Pell Grant. A. Courses are held in the KSU Center at 3333 Busbee Drive in Kennesaw, located just a short distance from the KSU main campus.
A. A certificate program is an extensive course or series of courses designed to prepare people for a specific professional function. Certification is a recognized credential that confirms a person’s ability in a particular area, and usually requires passing an exam or series of exams. Many certificate programs prepare students for a specific certification exam.
A. An externship is an actual site placement where students will spend time working and using the skills they've acquired during their certificate program in a real work environment. Externships help students to successfully transition from classroom to workplace. Like a traditional internship, externships provide valuable, hands-on learning opportunities. Some externship classes include a workshop to help students develop and write their resume and get tips for job searching in the medical environment. Most externships require an additional tuition fee.
A. No. Courses taken with Continuing Education are awarded CEUs (Continuing Education Units), not college credits. They are not transferable to a college degree.
